Happiness is a Journey

Happiness is a Journey

A few weeks ago, I shared the piece below on my blog. I’ve shared it a couple of times over the years because it’s so relevant to that search for happiness, so many of us go through. Happiness and success – both misunderstood so often, and at the same time always part of everyone’s quest.

The truth is, happiness isn’t a destination but has the potential to be in our lives far more often than people allow it. And success is a moving target…the older you are, the more you realize it’s about starting each day with a smile. Sure, money and recognition are part of the formula sometimes, but those smiles come from deep within, not your bank statement!

I don’t know who “Souza” is, but I’m grateful for the wisdom he/she shared on a kitchen magnet!

for a long time, it seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life.
but there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first,
some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid.
at last, it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
this perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness.
happiness is the way. so treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one.
happiness is a journey, not a destination.
