2024: Down to the Wire, Wrap Up

We all know the expression, “Time flies when you’re having a good time.” Well, 2024 proved it flies even when you’re NOT having a good time…storms, fires, floods, politics, and days when it indeed seemed like the whole world had run amuck – time still flew by. Here we are with just over two weeks until a new year.

So, it’s your last chance to invest in whatever fine-tuning your business needs that might be tax deductible. Plus, now’s the time to remind those who supported you the most how much you appreciate all the times they watched your back, referred new clients, and stayed in contact with you.

Here’s a mini-laundry list that I hope sparks some ideas for you…

  • New gear? If you need some big-ticket items and want the tax deduction, now’s the time.
  • Reservations for Imaging USA or WPPI: Don’t wait until the last minute, whether it’s flights or hotels.
  • Promotions for the Slow Season: What are you thinking about doing to kick off the new year? Gone are the days when you could just kick back and be brainless for a few months. That first quarter of the new year still has great potential for business, but you have to be on the hunt! For example, it’s a perfect time for a commercial headshot campaign in your community.
  • Time to Say Thanks: While you can always do something in the new year, this is the perfect time to do something special for those 3-5 people/companies who helped you the most over the last year. Whether taking a valued associate to lunch or sending a gift basket, don’t forget how important your “village” is to your success.
  • Donations: Every non-profit association needs your help – and your donations are tax-deductible!
  • Holiday Photo Tips: Whether it’s content for your FB page, blog, or an evening class in your community – this is your chance to help everyone clean up their holiday pictures. There are things you do every day that you never think about, but they’re so helpful to all those amateur photographers. Share ideas on exposure, composition, lighting, and posing – even with a cell phone, you can help them raise the bar on the quality of their images.

I’ve given you six different types of activities to focus on before time runs out.

With all the uncertainty in the world, don’t get caught off guard “shoulding” on yourself! There’s still time to make a few high-impact changes, so you’re not saying, “You know what I should have done?”
