I agree with Mark S. Per session it is hands down weddings, but per hour worked is definitely families. Might want to clarify the question as I wasn’t sure which to choose.
Family portraits is our niche. That is why it is our highest average.
teaching workshops – both in a group or privately is a great money spinner and generates lots of new “family portrait business” my students want me to shoot their “Special” pictures.
Parties: birthday, family reunions, anniversary. I’m trying to make sports my main income, but I’ll take what I can get. I enjoy doing both.
For me it’s boudoir, and I think that might be the case for most of the people answering the poll, except I’m sure most of them don’t offer it. I think families is getting the most votes, because most photographers mostly do families. So I don’t know if this poll is really accurate for which type of shoot/event actually makes the most money.
Interesting that “family portraiture” is the top money maker given the huge number of digital cameras in the hands of moms and dads. Logic would dictate that this category would be lower. Wonder what these percentages where just five and ten years ago?
Sports teams and dance photos. Per hour worked – hands down winner
