Learn How Hair Became Inspiration for Award Winning Photography

“All About The Hair” was shot for my son’s senior portrait. He is passionate about basketball and his hair has always been a staple of his unique features. Truly makes everyone envious! All real, no perm!

I love to use this dramatic style in a lot of our work. I used a neutral gray shirt to drive focus to his blonde hair and a hot light on the wall behind him to create a warm separation.

TECHNICAL SIDE

Post Production Details

Color Correction to add warmth to image

Brown/Cream tone for color grading

Frequency Separation to remove stray hairs, facial hair, blemishes, skin hot spots

Dodged/Burned parts of subject and background

Added more warmth to highlighted parts of skin

High pass sharpening

Desaturated overall image

Added contrast and grain
