The Best Wedding Photos Aren’t Always Planned

Daddy Needs a Tissue

This photo was captured during the ceremony. My aim during this portion of the day is to get the essentials first – bride and groom facing each other, a wide shot of the ceremony, parents in the front row, etc. When it came time to get all the bridesmaids, and then all the groomsmen, I happened to see him holding the little girl, which I thought was a cool part of the story.

Then this happened! During candid moments like this I often shoot in burst mode to make sure I get the “right frame,” in this case, that perfect moment when you can see his eye and the dress is right up to his cheek.

This was shot on the Canon R6 and 70-200 at f/2.8. I like to shoot over the tops of the audience to give that feeling of the point-of-view from being in the crowd.
