Every year I start out writing the same thing –…
Intro by Skip Cohen
As you read this short post below, keep in mind that Suzette Allen wrote it eight years ago! The thing that hit me is that as much as things change, some things never change. Our phones have become permanent appendages to our bodies – almost as essential as our arms or legs. We communicate all day long on our phones through calls, texts, and emails.
But to the real point of Suzette’s post – “There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience.” That one saying of hers is the most critical part of everything you do, especially when running your business.
When Mom’s reading your about page, she’s not interested in what awards you’ve run, what gear you shoot with, or even how long you’ve been a photographer. What she’s looking for is trust – Can you be trusted to capture the kinds of images she wants of her family? Will you deliver on time with the quality she wants for each portrait?
The list goes on and on, but it’s all about her believing in your love for photography and your clients. Build your reputation and brand awareness on the quality of your client relationships and that soft pillow of integrity!

Wow, it’s hard to imagine how difficult it is to scale the wall of authentication these days! Simply trying to blog on the road with a mobile device is a feat. After hitting the wall many times, failing and resorting to the computer, I finally forged thru…. it took an hour to do it, but now I can blog from my phone.
Security…does it have to be that tight? What is wrong with our world? I have to admit it seems ridiculous to have to be so wary and untrustworthy of everyone and everything in the world.
I am totally trustworthy, so it doesn’t add up to me. One of my Sayings to Live by goes like this: There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience. That’s worth living by. And I doubt that the authentication verification and security firewall business would be necessary if everyone lived by it. Oh well. We live in the dark, but we can still shine….
