YouTube allows you to connect with your customers that you just can’t do thru traditional media. It will enable you to show your personality and for them to get to know you thru not just one video but a series of videos that eventually builds credibility and trust in you.

Marketing your business requires a variety of media to maximize your promotional reach. Ideally, you are trying to personalize your message in order to have your potential clients associate with your brand, your values, and similar interests.

Few media allows you to do this so readily as YouTube. YouTube allows you to connect with your customers that you just can’t do thru traditional media. It will enable you to show your personality and for them to get to know you thru not just one video but a series of videos that eventually builds credibility and trust in you.

Regardless of what type of advertising media you use, all of it should drive people to your website or even better – to call you. Your website is the place where you have the most control over. It has your branding, your presentation, and your content and you decide when something gets changed or updated.

As with anything, there are pros and cons with YouTube. The pro is that YouTube is HUGE. There are over one BILLION users on it. Every minute, over 100 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube.

The Con of that is that YouTube is so populated that there’s a ton of competition for your message. You need to have a catchy title, relevant tags, and above all else, quality content. Focus on those first when you start planning out your message. You’ll want to promote that you have a YouTube presence on all your printed materials, emails, and socials so they know where to find you.

Keep in mind that it’s not any one big marketing thing you do that makes a difference in your business. Successful marketing requires using a combination of media and networking in order to maximize potential. You also have to be consistent with your marketing efforts or you lose the ground you worked so hard to gain.

I invited my friend and studio owner Hayward Gaude of San Antonio, Texas to join me on a podcast to discuss how he utilizes YouTube to personalize his business and motivate potential customers.

Technically it’s not that hard or even expensive to get started. In fact, you’ll hear Hayward say that as long as the content is interesting and relevant to your audience, they will engage regardless of how fancy the video and sound quality is.

Timing is important when you post too. According to Sotrender.com Fridays and the weekend are typically better to post than Mondays, as research shows those days get the most views.

Bottom line, YouTube videos allow you to personalize your business better than just about any other media. It helps people buy into your brand, and your personality and builds trust. You become a real person to them and when used in conjunction with all your other media, you have a powerful combination.
